Peter Scott’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation at the trial and appellate level in both federal and state courts.  Mr. Scott has been named by Thomson Reuters as a Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2012 and 2014- 2017, and he has been selected for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America” in 2023 and 2024 for Commercial Litigation. Prior to joining Early Sullivan, Mr. Scott was a litigator in Greenberg Traurig’s Los Angeles office.

Mr. Scott is a 2006 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School (cum laude, (Royal Stone Scholarship Recipient)), and a 2002 graduate of Cornell University (B.A., Economics).  He is admitted to practice in California (including the U.S. District Courts for Central and Southern Districts of California) and Hawaii (including the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii), and is a member of the American Bar Association.

 

Representative Matters and Experience

  • Obtained defense verdict in $26 million title insurance and real property dispute relating to exclusive ocean front residential estate in Makena, Maui, Hawai’i.
  • Successful defense of major Hollywood talent agency in age discrimination class action brought by television writers against numerous major television networks, television studios and talent agencies.
  • Obtained dismissal at pleading stage in putative nationwide class action against several major Hollywood studios relating to Blu-ray Disc Movie Packages.
  • Successful defense of world’s largest title insurance company in Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act class action.
  • Successful representation of major gaming company in declaratory relief and insurance bad faith action relating to property and business interruption insurance claims arising out of Hurricane Katrina.
