Lisa L. Boswell is a highly experienced litigation partner with nearly three decades of practice representing corporate and individual clients in complex, high-stakes matters. Known for her strategic approach and practical judgment, she has built a distinguished career handling sophisticated litigation across intellectual property, business, entertainment, and corporate law.

She focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on intellectual property and business disputes. She has extensive experience handling matters involving copyright infringement, Lanham Act claims, and rights of publicity, as well as contract, partnership, and fraud disputes within the business and entertainment sectors. Her ability to manage large, high-exposure cases has made her a trusted advisor to Fortune 500 companies and major private entities, where she delivers strategic, cost-effective solutions aligned with client objectives.

As a Partner at Early Sullivan Wright Gizer & McRae LLP, she manages a diverse litigation docket from inception through resolution. In addition to representing clients in complex disputes, she advises businesses and individuals on risk management and drafts and negotiates a wide range of commercial agreements.

She received her Juris Doctor from Whittier College School of Law, where she was honored with the American Jurisprudence Award in Professional Responsibility Practicum Skills, and her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside. She is the past chair of DRI’s Intellectual Property Litigation Committee.

She is admitted to practice in California and Tennessee, as well as the United States District Court for the Central, Eastern and Northern Districts of California. She is also a licensed California Real Estate Broker.

  • Represented corporation in federal court action involving allegations of copyright infringement, and violations of the Lanham Act, statutory right of publicity and unfair business practices arising from the unauthorized use of a celebrity’s name, likeness and image.
  • Defended blog against federal court claims for violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act arising from the posting of hundreds of paparazzi photographs.
  • Represented franchisee in litigation involving allegations of violations of statutory and common law right of publicity arising from the use of a model’s images beyond the contracted licensing period.
  • Defended various companies against federal court copyright infringement cases brought by the purported owner of copyrighted computer code.
  • Represented corporation in federal court litigation involving allegations of false designation of origin under the Lanham Act, trade dress infringement, trade dress dilution, and statutory and common law unfair competition relating to a line of crowd control products.
  • Defended company against federal claims of direct and secondary copyright infringement arising from alleged unauthorized duplication and sale of numerous copyrighted celebrity photographs.
  • Represented corporation against federal action involving claims of copyright infringement and violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act for the unauthorized posting of hundreds of copyrighted images.
