Devin McRae was prominently quoted in Tim Kenneally’s The Wrap article “Thomas Gibson Will Have ‘a Tough Time’ Suing Over ‘Criminal Minds’ Firing, Expert Says.” According to Devin, Gibson, who was fired from the show for allegedly kicking a writer on set, would have a long road ahead of him in a civil lawsuit over his termination.
“I think he’s gonna have a tough time,” said Devin. “Normally there is quite a bit of language in these acting agreements that would give the right to the producer or network to terminate the actor.”

Eric Early’s representation of Natura Sports Health Club in its lawsuit against VHDG Koreatown and Harridge Development Group was the focal point of Henry Meier’s Los Angeles Business Journal piece “Spa Claims Landlord Squeezing It Out of Lease.” The major suit alleges that the developer is illegally attempting to force the popular Koreatown spa and health club out of its lease in order to make room for a luxury condo and hotel project.

Devin McRae was recently asked by The Wrap to comment on the reasons behind Ke$ha’s decision to drop her lawsuit against producer Dr. Luke in California. According to Devin, Ke$ha’s dismissal of the California action is not likely to be significant in the artist’s overall legal battle with her former mentor.
“I wouldn’t make too much of it,” Devin said, adding that the California case was stayed last year and won’t have any bearing on Ke$ha’s appeal in New York.

Devin McRae was quoted in Tim Kenneally’s The Wrap article “Dani Mathers’ Body-Shaming Victim Could Get $1 Million-Plus in Lawsuit, Lawyer Says,” which discusses how Playboy Playmate Dani Mathers’ Snapchat indiscretion could cost her over $1 million should the victim file suit. According to Devin, a recently introduced “revenge porn” statute could be a powerful tool for the victim, who would also have a very solid case on a number of counts.
“It would be a hard case for this Playmate to defend, because she’s not going to get any real sympathy,” said Devin.

The article discusses the class-action lawsuit brought by minority shareholders against Jeffrey Katzenberg regarding his role in the Comcast-DreamWorks merger. According to Bryan, plaintiffs must be able to prove that Katzenberg’s personal deal and the acquisition were both unreasonable in order for this case to have any worthwhile outcome. Minority shareholder lawsuits against the majority are often expensive and very difficult to prove, especially in this case given Katzenberg’s iconic Hollywood status as a pioneer in animation and co-founder of DreamWorks.
